No! We use 2 different topical numbing agents to keep you comfortable. It isn’t a “painless” experience but it shouldn’t be painful.
Everyone is different but every couple years is average. Some people are closer to the 18 month mark and some will go 3+ years in between boosts. There are no rules! We just want you to wait as long as possible in between sessions. They should be faded by about 50% and you should feel like you need to use makeup on them.
This depends on where you were pierced! Lobes heal the quickest, typically 6-8 weeks. Most cartilage piercings take a bit longer at 6-9 months.
We recommend keeping an earring in at all times for at least a year. After that, leaving an earring out for a day or two shouldn’t make it close up.
There is a greater risk of infection and should you get an infection, the types of antibiotics used to treat it could be harmful to the fetus or be absorbed into breast milk. It is also a “no-go” from an insurance standpoint.
For lobes, it is recommended to shorten backs at the 6-8 week mark as long as they are healing well and no longer swollen. Cartilage will need a little extra time to heal but backs can be shortened 8-12 weeks post piercing.
We offer ear piercings for children age 4/5 and older. We trust you to make your best judgment on when they are ready. They need to be able to remain still during their piercing appointment and be able to keep their hands off the jewelry during healing. We recommend tandem piercing for children 7 and younger. (Tandem is when we pierce both ears at the same time). Please be sure to alert our staff at time of booking should you desire tandem piercing.
